Our Computer Club at
Willow Creek Charter is designed to promote computer literacy, utilizing
TechnoKids™,
a theme-based technology program. The program begins in 5th grade and
goes through the 8th grade. Our entire
campus has wireless internet access for the student network. Students will be
learning on new laptops this year with the latest technology, Windows 7 and
Microsoft 2010.
Jennifer Baker
is our Computer Club instructor. She not only teaches the students computer
basics, including keyboarding and computer basics, but also teaches them how to
navigate current technology and the Internet.
Our students
learn multimedia, spreadsheets, word processing, graphics and database skills.
Students are taught these through imaginative lesson plans that combine their
computer research with their core school curriculum.
These programs
and operating systems are used in higher education courses and are becoming an
integral part of the work environment. By offering our students a Computer Club,
we are providing them with a clear advantage for their future academic and work
experiences.
