Computer Science

Our Computer Science program at Willow Creek Charter is taught to students in Levels Three through Five. Our entire campus has wireless internet access for the student network. We have 24 up to date laptops running Windows XP Professional available for student use with the guidance of their classroom teachers and our technology instructor, Jill Bluhm.

In Jill's computer science class, she not only teaches the students keyboarding and how computers work, but also teaches them how to navigate current technology and the Internet. Jill brings her IT knowledge into the classroom to enrich the lives of her students and to prepare them for the future.

Our students have access to Excel, Word, PowerPoint and FrontPage to learn spreadsheets, word processing, presentation techniques and webpage design respectively. Students work with the Windows XP operating system. In addition Level Four and Level Five students have daily experience working with the Linux operating system, which is unheard of even in most high schools. These programs and operating systems are used in higher education courses and are becoming a normal part of the work environment. By offering our students a Computer Science program, we are providing them with a clear advantage for their future academic and work experiences.
